Ronald Engel (born 24 January 1961 in Amsterdam) is a Dutch folk singer and café owner. He grew up in Amsterdam's Jordaan district as a neighbour and classmate of René Froger, with whom he played accordion duets as a child. Engel became nationally known with the controversial song 'Transsexueel' (1993), which reached the Dutch top ten despite being boycotted by many radio stations, thanks to broadcaster Veronica. He soon followed up with another hit, 'M'n Schoonmoeder'. He released the album 'Gezelligheid tot sluitingstijd' and performed for many years as a singer and accordionist in Amsterdam's traditional pubs.
